Ballerina Ends Trailer Campaign With High-Octane Footage

Three weeks remain until the arrival of From the World of John Wick: Ballerina, Ana de Armas’ spin-off film that will arrive in theaters on June 6, 2025. In the run-up to the film’s release, Lionsgate has released the final trailer for the film, which, as a reminder, is set during the events of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum.

A recap for those who need it: Parabellum was released in 2019, and it saw Keanu Reeves’ eponymous character having been made “excommunicado” by the High Table for killing crime boss Santino D’Antonio at the Continental Hotel. On the run, with a multi-million-dollar bounty on his head, John Wick had made his way to New York City to contact the crime organization Ruska Roma.

At the head of this organization was the enigmatic Director (Anjelica Huston) and her group of disciples — a band of beautiful ballerina assassins who had trained under the watchful eye of Huston’s character in a militaristic, violent, and almost dystopian setting. In John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, a young ballerina (Unity Phelan) could be seen rehearsing on stage during one of the main action scenes. Now, in From the World of John Wick: Ballerina, this same character is getting her spin-off movie to showcase her backstory and journey.

Ana de Armas plays the lead role as Eve Macarro, but there are several returning characters in the film as well. Fans can expect to see Anjelica Huston and Ian McShane reprising their roles as the Director and Winston from the mainline films, respectively. Fans will also see Lance Reddick (Charon) making one of his final roles (sadly, he passed away in March 2023) as the Continental’s efficient concierge who even attempts to help Wick on his run during Chapter 3 – Parabellum. New characters are Gabriel Byrne, playing the role of Chancellor (and antagonist of the film); Sharon Duncan-Brewster as Nogi; Norman Reedus as Daniel Pine; Catalina Sandino Moreno; and David Castañeda.

Ana de Armas: Ballerina Tells a Story of Retribution

The first official trailer for Ana de Armas: Ballerina was released way back in September 2024, focusing primarily on Eve Macarro’s backstory and her journey as a ballerina-turned-assassin. Orphaned young, Eve was trained by the Ruska Roma from a young age. According to the first trailer, her main mission is to avenge her father’s death, for which she seeks retribution.

Fans got their first official look at Ana de Armas’ performance as Eve in that first trailer, and the second one — which dropped back in March 2025 — followed it up with a brief action scene featuring her and John Wick together. In the scene, the two assassins are hunkered down in the snow, circling each other warily as they plan the next move and pick their fight. The setup is atmospheric and stylish, and fans were quick to point out that the two have considerable screen time in the film.

Fast forward to today, and we have this final trailer for Ballerina, which is grittier and more aggressive than either of the two previous ones. The final trailer opens on Eve looking up from her position as she’s in the crosshairs of John Wick’s gun. Then, as the action music rips through, the pace increases, and the final trailer from Ballerina offers a montage of all the action scenes that fans have seen in the previous trailers and some new ones.

Ana de Armas gets the opportunity to flex her fight skills as she takes down opponent after opponent in choreographed fashion, using a mix of martial arts and gun skills. The shots range from close-quarters combat to gunfights in wide-open spaces. The choreography is tight, and Ana de Armas is committed to the role as she stomps, punches, and kicks. One of the lines that resonates in the new trailer is from Eve herself as she says, “This isn’t done until they’re dead.”

What makes Ballerina unique among the John Wick franchise is the fresh perspective it offers. The character work is there, and this time around, a female assassin is front and center. Keanu Reeves still has a role to play in the film as John Wick is featured in more than one scene, but he is not the protagonist or the star. Ballerina is Ana de Armas’ film, and if the previous two trailers are anything to go by, this is likely to be a mix of intimate, character-based scenes and big, action-packed sequences.
